Extreme Sports Photography Requires Particular Equipment

There are many breathtaking shots and recordings to be had during extreme sports events. Some of the most intense shots are taken from helmet cams on snowboarders, and from the front cameras of bobsleds. You can do this with your extreme sports excursions as well, with the right equipment. There are many different types of amazing filters and brackets for these types of memorable moments you want to capture. Here are a few you may need if you are going to be shooting these sweet tricks.

Bracketing And Stands

No matter where you put your camera when you are doing any extreme sport, you cannot afford to lose your hands. This is why the placement of your bracket or stand for your camera makes or breaks the shot. If you are sledding or riding a motorized vehicle, bracketing the camera on the nose or side is the most intense. You can also bracket the camera on your helmet. This method works well with skiing and snowboarding, as well as previously mentioned sports.

Some stand shots also look fantastic, if you can get the entire trick or important features into one frame. A separate camera man is helpful here, but it can be done with one person. Most quality cameras have bracket and stand attachments on the bottom.

Housings And Cases

Both you and your camera are likely to take a beating during your extreme sport. You need to know that the camera can take some force and weather damage. Waterproof housings and a shock resistant casing are essential for this protection. If you are doing practice runs, cold weather also drains battery life at an accelerated rate. Cases with additional backup batteries are useful for this, but they are a bit heavier on bracketed cameras. Standard casings just do not cut it in this case.

Lenses

Flairs and localization of shots do affect extreme sports photography quite a bit. Filters and exterior lenses are useful for protecting against this, and giving you the perfect photo or recording. Macro lenses let you focus on a particular area of the course, or when you have a perfect trick to capture. Snow, especially plays havoc with light filters of lower quality, and even more so on cameras with none at all. These amazing features can be found in one neat package, but you must be wary with some glass products, because they may not stand up to use.
